Lets call it Lunch

While I've got about a million things on my to-do list to get my house feeling like its 'holiday ready', I'm hungry... And so far today, I've done pretty good with good food choices (fruit and cottage cheese smoothie- which tastes way better than it sounds btw, oatmeal sweetened with a tsp of honey and cinnamon, *two... Fine, I'll be honest.. three girl guide cookies- which will not get me down..)... So that leads me to cleaning out my fridge to see what kind of leftovers I still have to make something that's going to taste great and not leave my stomach growling! ... And this is what I came up with!! Rice bowl with two fried eggs, fried leftover (now shaved) steak, topped with sautéed baby spinach!

Key ingredients were: fresh lime (like three total) salt, pepper(lotsa pepper), and 'Guacamoltea Mix' (by 'Steeped Tea) -in the pan when frying up the rice and the steak, which I fried up separate.
After everything was ready and the pan was still hot, I threw in a generous handful of baby spinach and tossed it till it was just softening. Pile it all up as its ready, I ordered it 1. Eggs, 2 rice, 3. Steak, and 4. Spinach 😀 Best part is that my tummy feels full and it tasted so good that I'm not craving all the deliciously terrible choices I was tempted to make (ie. Poutine with shaved steak...) Ha! Take that cravings!

Little Things

Little Things
...As if I took this pic in mid-November... Not to mention that it was t-shirt weather today! If it's up to me, I'll gladly take an order of whatever kind of weather this is for the rest of the year!
I pulled over to quickly capture the beautiful GREEN farmland that highlights the beauty that southwestern Ontario shows off so well.

On a day off, a short drive in the country was welcomed to drop off a 'wee' gift to hitch a ride with Phil's Aunt up to the great North, for one of my sweet nieces.

No particular occasion at a time, I have been making blankets for each of my wonderful 9, soon to be 10 nieces and nephews. So far if I'm keeping track right, I've got 5/(almost)10 complete!

Each of them are unique from the others, and like pretty much everything I make, I follow a pattern I more or less make as I go.

Here is the latest craft of coziness ready to be sent off to our sweet Miss Katie
And because a gift just isn't quite the same without a card...

Crazies & Cozys

Hello lovelies! It has been too long!

So, to summarize, we came back from camp running, but so blessed from what God had in store for us on our camp adventures. The many wonderful human beings we met and made friendships with, still leave us feeling so thankful for the week of fun Phil and I each had as cabin counselors in the great north! Thanksgiving weekend for us this year was a lovely break from full-time + hours of work for both of us, and it was the first time since my sister's wedding that we were all together for the day, and this time we had a lot more time to hang out and spend great memories cooking together, and fitting in some nearing-end-of-the-warm-weather-season bike rides in... and even fit in grabbing some famjam pics. In my opinion, when you get creative and use the timer mode to attempt capturing a moment of picture perfectness of a family of 9 + a pet,  it is the road to getting there that truly makes the memories. And along that road, being the one setting up the camera, I can never resist snagging a few candid moments, hoping to capture truthful takes of what it really looks like to be part of a crazy fun-loving wild bunch I call family.
my kind of crazies
which one is different?...

You might never suspect that my dad is
a hair styling expert from time to time

So that brings us up to this week,  I've had some time in my schedule to start a fall clean out! Which is always a way bigger job than I bargain for it seems :/ For future project planning, I picked out some paint colours to wreck havoc on the basement in hopes of soon starting to transform our outdated and now, totally-our-own basement into an entertainment and guest area :D (YAY - more will come on that when I get time!)

And, since I go back to work tomorrow and I've got limited time left, I have found myself crafting for the past few days! Since last night, I have decided to start going a little nuts making these adorable little 'Cozys'.. and I LOVE them! I so far have made 4, on top of the 4 scarves I've made over the rest of the week, I am accumulating an over abundance of beautiful handmade goodies, that I will not be able to use all on my own!  I'm still trying to figure out how to do a DIY tutorial, because I don't really follow a pattern, so that is in the works for those of you who want to get your stitch on this fall!.. but for any of you interested in purchasing any of these unique treasures, send me an e-mail (teschak@gmail.com) and I'd love to share the comfort of a warm cozy!
Giant cozy, for those giant cups of your favourite hot beverage

Nothing says 'you matter' like a handmade gift, and these beauties make drinking your warm cup of tea or coffee that much more enjoyable on a brisk fall day or a (dare I say it), bitter cold winter day that eventually will have to come!

Drink of choice today to enjoy with my new cozy: London Mist Latte by Steeped Tea

Cheers and Have a 'Cozy' Friday Everyone!

Here's to new adventures!

So while I'm waiting for my ancient laptop to re-start... Again... Might as well start something I've been wanting to do for a while- start AND commit to writing a blog. Lately, when I learn something new, or I'm just tinkering around creatively, and come up with something useful, I think about writing it down somewhere, for me, and also for others to be helped by. So here it goes!
Here is the view from my "office" while I get ready for some end of Summer campin' up at Joy Bible Camp. My hubby and I are going up there as volunteer counselors to a bunch of 'Sr. Youth' and we are both crazy excited, and a tad nervous. I haven't been a cabin counselor since I was about 17, and Phil has never been one, and now that we get to go to camp together, 3 years into marriage and never doing anything like this together yet, it should be quite an adventure! When I come back, my goal is to share some of the joys an challenges of our "JBC Adventure"!
For now, it is time to finish up my outline for the elective group I am running- "Word Art, Doodling, etc. and Whatever-else-along-those-lines-that-floats-your-creative-boats"... (I'm still working on a better name for when I present the option to the kiddos, don't worry).
Also, I am working on some AM devotions to lead my cabin kiddos in (ahhh, scary)! Sometimes there is nothing more humbling than being put into a leadership position of kids who have hearts for Jesus. I am looking forward to learning lots from them (and hopefulky be able to guide them on their God-journey in some way that is impactful).

So here's to new adventures and room for growth! .. And prayer that somehow I can do it gracefully 😁

Xx, Tescha
